Motivation Strategies that Work!

Let's be honest....indoor cycling is hard.  We're not going to sugarcoat it.  The good news is that success does NOT depend on how old you are or what your current fitness level is.  Assuming you've checked with your doctor and they've said cycling is okay for you, the key to your success is your mindset and who you surround yourself with.   It's not about the past.  It's about how committed you are today

How to stay motivated

  1. You have to want this for yourself.  You have to be serious about it
  2. Surround yourself with the right people – people who see fitness and health as a priority.  Otherwise, you’re going to eat that extra cupcake.  There’s a saying that “You can’t out-train a bad diet”...it is so true.
  3. Make the investment.  Sign up for classes or hire a personal trainer.  Classes are typically 45 minutes to one-hour.  When Beth works out with a personal trainer, she works much harder.  When she rides alone, she isn't as fast and it takes longer to warm up.  You need people around you who are going to push you.
  4. Listen to upbeat music during your workout -- techno, rock and roll, fun, high-energy positive music.  Avoid negative or depressing lyrics.
  5. Commit to changing your diet.  Here is the blunt truth -- if you're not going to change your diet, don't waste your money on a personal trainer, just sign up for group classes.  Remember -- you can't out-train a bad diet.
